Harvest Moon Rituals
9/23/2010 12:30:48 PM

This is a ritual that was taken from a Spiritual Healer's site...a gift!

On the day of the Autumnal Equinox at the time of the full moon (Sept. 23), the following ceremony is traditionally practiced by spiritualists. I share it with you on this amazing day.

This is a day of thanks (much like Thanksgiving). It is a day to reflect and be grateful for blessings that have come over the past year. Under the light of the full moon's light, gather four pieces of paper and sit on the warm earth, grounding yourself. Breathe. Ride the breath and become still, feeling gratitude.

On the first paper, write down all of the things you have been blessed with, achievements made and anything else you would like to give thanks for over the past year. Pray your grattitude and light the paper on fire watching the smoke rise and blow the ash to be carried off into the sky. Feel gratitude.

On the second paper, write down all that you wish to give away (problems, concerns, things that cause you distress). Pray that this might be taken from you. Burn this paper and bury the ashes into the earth (a potted plant would work just as well). Feel gratitude for the help that you will receive to overcome your trials.

On the third paper, write down those things you wish to carry forward and work on (projects or goals you are already working on). Pray for insight to help you find the means to accomplish your goals with joy. Feel gratitude for the opportunity to do so. Fold this paper into a small bundle and tuck it away in a private place that you can pull out and reflect on over the next year.

On the fourth paper, write down all of the achievements you wish to accomplish (new goals) over the coming year. Pray for insight to help you find the way to fulfill these new goals. Feel gratitude that you have the desire to progress in your life. Raise the paper to the sky and turn to the four corners (north, south, east and west). Feel the energy of the moon and the earth. Pray for motivation and joy as you begin to achieve these accompishments and feel gratitide again for the opportunity to do so. Bury this paper in the earth on the west from where you are standing or sitting.

Now, breathe and feel rejuvinated by nature, God and all that autumn brings. Sit in peace and move into mindfullness as you feel total love wash over you.

Namaste ~
