My return to Gold! Hello to anyone who reads my posts! I have a Gold membership here again which allows me to make them. i plan to utilize my new freedom to the MAX!
I hope you all had great Easters...I sure did! my large family rented a village hall: lotsa room to eat and visit plus, with the fine weather, a chance to sit outside.
I received a huge boost to my self-esteem when my eldest niece's partner told me he was my number 1 fan! I had given my niece, during a celebration of achieving her Doctorate in Pathology, a copy each of my novels. I had expected a polite acceptance and thought that would be the last I'd hear of it (we're not very close)...
But no! Here comes James telling me I'm writing novels as good as anything out there. He even paid me the honour of comparing me to Larry Niven and Piers Anthony! I asked him if he'd read Niven's fine fantasy work ("The Magic Goes Away", et al) but he said he meant Niven's Sci-Fi classic "Ringworld".
A bit of an aside here: why do people keep calling my writings Science Fiction? The only science involved is the concept of a "multi-verse" and when last I checked it was considered to be fact. There is also the "nuclear winter" one of the main characters survives and, hopefully, whether that's fact or not never gets tested by the jokers with the arsenals around the world. It's "dark fantasy": grimmer than The Ring Trilogy and Harry Potter and rated "mature' for graphic language and violence.
But back to James: not only had he read the books, he had bought 2 copies on amazon and gave me glowing reviews! Plus, as he works for a computer game making and testing company, he told me he had about 500 other "geeks" to get interested in my first 2 novel, also.
