Rain has continued in abundance while we were visiting son and family in Kansas City.
Returned home today after 5 days hiatus.
The corn fields between KC and the Kansas border are a sea of emerald. Lovely sight. By this time last summer the lack of rain had already caused the same fields to brown, wither and die.
This year the stalks are standing tall, proud, I saw tasselling ears on the stalks. There will be a crop.
Ponds are full, creeks are running high, fast and joyous.
White Fang, Bubba and Panda have all made their appearance, good to see them, their feed pans have been visited during our hiatus, but there is still plenty of food left for tonight's visit.
Birds are busy in the mulberry trees. Below the trees the ripe berries have been visited by possum, skunks, raccoons, even Hossenfeffer has been out rooting around for the treat.
Who knew bunnies like mulberries!
Turtles have eaten some of the cat food in the pans left for White Fang and pals, but the two reptiles I saw this evening all sport a little mulberry lipstick on their beaks.
The Rose of Sharon is blooming all along the lane. Rose and lavender blossoms are profuse. It is a pretty sight to come home to.
One of the things I like best about Rose of Sharon is their propensity for thriving with little attention on my part.
Even during the drought of the last two summers I rarely needed to add any water via use of water hose. And, the bushes continued to bloom.
Day Lilies are blooming now, here in our yard, and all along the edges of the corn fields. It is quite a sight to see row upon row, acres and acres of corn all standing tall, productive and flourishing.
