Atop my Hill 7/26/2014 2:52:23 AM
the morning sky is laced with peach and coral cool this am, had to reach for a blankie
my morning glories are blooming, there are heavenly blue, descendants of the first seed I put out 20 years or so ago when we first moved to the rock house with pastures in front and back, and deep purple and red - descendants of the seed I gathered at school 5 years ago, it is nice to see the continuity and promise of seed fulfilled!
the sun is coming up, the sky is laced with peach and coral, pretty!!
raccoon horde left empty bowls, muddy water in the little wading pool, and a bemused white cat observing their madness during early morning hours.
i'll go out in a few minutes to check the water trough. the little cow girls come up every morning pretty early as they mosey, munching through the back pasture. the girls do have a nice pond over in the corner where our fence and the west neighbor meet; however, can't say that I would guzzle warm, muddy water as opposed to cool clean water just a few steps away, and lots of yummy grass along the way.
the girls rest in the shade near the pond during the heat of the day before returning to our pasture for more water and then a snooze in the shade along the west fence.
71 may be approaching already, he is very focused, croissants, bagels, stomp, stomp, stomp. he waits patiently, eyes beseeching as he watches to see if I am coming; neither grass nor water take precedence, 71 wants his yummies!
yesterday I found the croissants were gone as were the bagels, hmm what to do. Ah, a new taste sensation ... sandwich rounds in the freezer, and not just any old sandwich rounds, these are RAISIN sandwich rounds. Husband sat, just sat shaking his head, 'that bull is NOT going to eat raisin, sandwich rounds."
the man do not know that bull, I have 4 sandwich rounds left and then off to town to get croissants, bagels AND raisin sandwich rounds!
I am not speaking to the raccoons for a few days, those little brats broke all the stems as my naked ladies were just beginning to bloom and now my beautiful pink buds are opening in a coffee can on the counter.
I dug the bulbs and moved them to another place, closer to the den door, maybe that will keep next year's little masked toddlers out of them! thank goodness I have another good stand of those bulbs along the back of the house, and the brat kids have not bothered them.
