Ed Kostro inspired my thinking Reading Ed Kostro’s posting re Tiger Lily kitten inspired my thinking
.. recently we returned home from a trip to visit family and found several new felines gracing the grounds, little Barbara is an orange tabby who trusts people no matter what but doesn’t care much for other cats or critters and there is Zach a cuddlesome marmalade tabby lad, two small black and white kittens, and their mom Wendy a pretty white girl with marmalade tabby crown and lovely blue eyes
where they came from who knows?
Babs was loving from the first and just knew we would feed and love her, Zach ate the food and was standoffish until he was certain the hand reaching to caress was the hand that would not slap.
The kittens are still untouchable, but are beginning to gather meowing their hunger and displeasure that I was not about their needs earlier in the day at 5AM, as I approach the porch with breakfast tray in hand .
And there is Wendy, loving and protective of the kittens, very wary, slow to warm up to the humans in the rock house, patient with the other critters who also call the front porch their personal dining area, but at last has given in to base feline behavior, I AM A CAT AND I DESERVE UNDIVIDED LOVE AND ATTENTION AND LOTS OF CUDDLES.
And when Wendy finally allowed me to get close enough to actually see the whole of the pretty white kid; it became clear that Wendy is Wendell.
Now I ponder, where on earth did Zach and Wendy, who seem to be traveling companions if not litter mates, get these kittens that Wendy has taken under his wing and that Uncle Zach baby sits on a regular basis.
life moves forward, fall has come and winter is well on its heels;
