One of the poems in my collection Always the Moon ends with "...this being life sometimes you cry." I wrote that years ago, but how it has resonated this year. In my last blog, I expressed the intention to be back more often. I haven't.
In March, my husband of 43 years passed away--one day after moving into the brand new house my daughter bought after beginning her teaching career. On St. Patrick's, meaning that one of my daughter-in-laws had a horrible birthday, and may never feel the same about celebrating 'her' day.
Due to a minor stroke, I had double vision that made it impossible for me to drive, write, cook--almost everything was risky.
Thankfully, the double vision cleared. The memories still are knives, sometimes, but new memories are being made that will help us all through.
I have new releases, and hopefully, new urgency. Thanks to those of you who have followed me here over the years. My new article, "#Me Too, But..." looks at the current situation of celebrity abuse and harassment, from a personal perspective.
I hope all of you are safe, healthy, and here. Sometimes, just being "here," wherever that is for you, is the greatest challenge--and blessing--we'll ever have.
