I've been busy. Things have been crazy lately. I would love to fill you in, but I'd have to write a novel first. I can say, though, that my anxiety is at an all-time high. Getting old sucks in that regard.
Despite this, I'm still getting things done. We really need more money coming in, and these days, writing is one of the only things I can do to make money.
So, on to the reason for this blog. I've added another story to Kindle Vella. This story is the first novel I attempted to write.
In my WIP tabletop role-playing game, I've designed two settings so far, and the one for this story is likely the most developed. It began being designed about twenty-four years ago to be used in a campaign for Dungeons & Dragons.
It never got used for that, and not wanting to see all that work done for nothing, I began to formulate a story using some of the characters I had designed for non-player characters.
It's a classic but unique medieval fantasy setting, and is very heavily influenced by Dragonlance, which used to be a setting for D&D.
I planned for this story to be a tetralogy, and so the chapters are long. I originally wrote ten chapters, but somehow lost two of them along the way. For KV, I'm breaking down each chapter into three or four parts, and actually have rearranged a couple.
I'm not sure why I chose such a big project as my first. The story is even being written from multiple perspectives including, the heroes, the villains, and a small third party. Not only that, but the characters are traveling all over the map I made using The Worldbuilder's Guidebook. It's been on the back burner for a while now.
The first volume of this story is called, Orb of Seeing, which is one of the Orbs of Power. Very ancient artifacts originally used by the gods to create this world. Along with the Staff of the Suns that holds them, the heroes must venture to find each part and use it to stop the world from being ruled by evil.
You know, the classic stuff. When I began to write it, I wasn't worried about the story itself being too cliche. I went into it with the idea that I would create really in-depth and lovable characters so that the story is more of a subplot to the development of them. I had all of the characters designed on D&D character sheets, and planned to update them as I wrote the story. That was until I decided to start designing my own TTRPG.
