My Angel with a Colored Face

Sometimes, the very truth hits you in the face.

Poem Artwork

My Angel with a Colored Face

In the fluorescent light

Of the General Store

The Angel ‘s face shimmered,

Its wings- feathered clouds,

Its gown- shining gold

I loved it; I had to buy it

Home, on my nightstand, facing my bed

I noticed that my Angel had a colored face

“It doesn’t matter,”

I thought,

“I love it anyway.”

Yesterday, as I pulled into the parking lot

Of a grocery store

Another car pulled next to me

And a woman with colored face told me that

I’m driving with a flat tire.

As I turned around to look at my tires

And then, back to thank the lady properly

She had already pulled away.

“My Angel with a colored face

Is watching over me,”

I thought.

All faces have color. Some have unfortunate scars. Some have pimples. Some have rosy cheeks, and some have wrinkles… but all have color of some form… none are colorless. And angels are angels wherever you can find them. I tend to call my good fortune just good fortune and don't give any angelic properties to good ordinary people.

Clearly, you know good art when you see it.

Nice poetic story! Angels sometimes watch over other angels. So stay the course and enjoy the journey! Amen
