Last night, I dreamed of Mother
She was young and slender,
She wore a white mink coat
Striped with black
So luxurious, so beautiful,
That I haven’t seen before
Even on models
She asked me: “Are you envious of my coat?”
Lovingly, I covered her hand with mine
“No Mother, you deserve it!
For I remember the times
When we were children
And you traded the knee high snow
Wearing broken rubber boots
(the ugly, black, galoshes)
That left your feet wet
Hurrying from your work, to the market,
To Home
Making sure that your children lack of nothing!”
Your mother, like mine, was covered with the warmth of love, not a fur coat.
