Thoughts were playing in my mind
As I lay in bed last night
Thoughts of the words a friend had said
“It’s ok, you had the right”
I won’t go into details
Of my little dance and song
But what I had “the right” to do
In the end felt very wrong
What I did was not illegal
I had “the right” to speak my mind
But was it “right” to say the things I did?
Some words are better kept confined
This concept of “We have the right”
Is nothing new you see
Not long ago this sort of right
Held men in slavery
Because something is made legal
Does not always make it right
Legalities can blind us
To where we cannot see the light
These sort of rights still live today
Made by the high courts of our land
How they come to such conclusions
Is hard for me to understand
We all have our way of seeing things
As I think that it should be
And we can still choose to do what’s right
That’s part of being free
But just because we have the right
Does not require us to do
True right or wrong comes from the heart
And that choice is up to you.

Truer words have seldom been spoken Jack. This is a gem of a poem and we would all do well to read this out loud once a day! Perhaps we would all be more kind to each other with this in mind....
You sure got that right! I've always believed that eveerybody knows, deep down in their heart, what is right. Too bad everybody didn't choose to do what's right. What a great world it could be.
