Except for me... it was 29 Palms, California (Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Station); and, yes, the 'green young Marines' describes us when we first arrived, fresh from "boot camp." More accurately, we were stark white, but then, after a year and a half in the Mojave Dessert sun, our skin had a nice tone. Thank you for this memory. -- Jeff
