I have drained all the books which I have read Emptying what they said into my head Where all stands stacked and neatly filed away In readiness for reference someday
But standing in my bathroom this morning Addressing the porcelain in the thou Fainting falling backward without warning I found myself in the cat-box somehow
When the light returned the eternal now At leisure from an apparent seizure The glasses I wore were on me no more But somewhere else entirely on the floor
Once I woke in the emergency room Lying at attention in suspension But after this morning's miniature doom A cat-box instead of a triage bed
I have gone from degraded and confused To blithely bemused absurdly amused The day got off to a rollicking start I give myself to life with all my heart
We think we are so smart and then we find Though we may be we all are flying blind You could end up in a cat-box like me Drained back into books for eternity
An excellent pen, Steve! I hate to say that I am giggling, because a siezure is never a laughing matter, but to wake up in the litterbox does have a glint of humor to it, as long as it is not me laying there, of course. This is a lesson to you to always keep that litter clean! You never know when it might be the thing that breaks your fall.
