"Life passed me by somehow / But I know where it went"

Shadows I have given my clothes To my son who outgrows Then returns them to me He keeps getting taller I keep looking smaller Than all my family Just by staying the same While the son with my name Grows like a mighty tree And he is not alone He is but one of three Descendants who arise To make me realize What I have always known Their descent is ascent I stand admiringly In loving shadows now Of hope which I can see Life passed me by somehow But I know where it went +Steven Curtis Lance Copyright MMVI
