I particularly like the way this concept is expressed through the image of this line:

Suicidal thoughts are part of our human condition; they are the result of our questioning mind, aware of pain. Isn't it natural to want to stop the pain? Fortunately, most of the time we find other ways to hush the suffering and simply (or not so simply) go on with our lives.

Nicely written Steve. We all find our dark tunnels in life most difficult at times to see past the darkness.. Always remember, there is a light at the end of every tunnel even though at times we cannot see it. ~JstImagine4Once~
Stunning! I know a little about the "edge of the cliff." My mother and sister both committed suicide. And I've heard stories from the guys I've interviewed for my book on PTSD that talk about the dangers of depression and the power of hopelessness. I wish you peace.
