The plane flying high scalpels through the sky
Tracing a momentary incision
Marking the arcing of its passing by
The sky heals erasing with precision
The jackrabbit never looks way up there
It does not matter so it does not mind
Having more immediate concerns where
Some predator may come up from behind
The roadrunner hops to a fencepost top
There to consider the situation
Having run all day but better not stop
The lizard runs by in explanation
The dogs are just happy to be away
From Santa Ana and detractors of
Dogs back at COGS on this their dogly day
They made it to doggedly through their love
And the poet has an epiphany
Now maybe happiness has come somehow
Thought never to be not ever to see
Maybe this is it being here and now
