Somnolence

Sleep...in deepest slumber sleep,

while time, my ancient memories, keep.

Each twisted hope lies in the ground,

where silent sighs rise round and round.

In hallowed mists, dark spirits dance,

beneath a sliver of a moon,

that drowns each shadow in it's light,

and leaves the wretched earth to die.

Did Spring once come? Was life a dream?

Or, maybe, vision too was blurred.

To see a thing that could not be,

         a phantom of my reverie.

And wakefulness seems far away,

when only sadness fills the day.

So, what of night... when stars appear,

but nothing of their fire is near?

Just wait, then, while the sun drifts by,

and sorrow falls in grayest skies.

For Fate has chosen what shall be...

        To sleep in deepest slumber...sleep.
