In 1967, my dad, with three other engineers invented an improved underwater listening device known as a sonobouy. At the time it was primarily for military use. Fast forward to 2014 and flight 370. Today a Chinese search vessel may have picked up the signal from the ill fated jet’s black box. They have requested additional sonobouys to help locate this almost hopelessly lost vital link in the disappearance puzzle. It isn’t the first time the sonobouy has been used for this purpose. It helped solve the mystery of TWA flight 800 which exploded shortly after takeoff from JFK in 1996. I didn’t think of it then, but I now realize my dad and his associates invented a pretty remarkable machine that has and will bring closure for a lot of heartbroken families. I’ll never top that but it does make me very proud.
AWESOME, Patrick! What a gift to the world and especially to the confusing enigmas of our time. You must feel particularly close to the action right now. Thanks to your family on behalf of us all. xx
You should be proud, Patrick, on so many levels...his invention is brilliant indeed! The measure of a man is simple yet profound...the ability to express thoughts that turn into poetry is a valuable gift...unattainable to many...untouchable by others! Well written, Patrick!

It is wonderful to be on the forefront of technology. Especially technology that has much usefulness beyond war. You certainly can be proud. Have you read the story about flight 370 that my friend wrote? I posted here in Stories.

TRUE STORY. Bella survived an abusive powerbroker father with organized crime ties, a drug-addicted mother and a physically/sexually abusive brother. Shocking & inspirational. When she couldn't cry, she tattooed a crying angel to cry for her.
