Roads that lead away and from
that take you back to where you belong,
rivers that flow
have done for so many years
long before the roads
were ever here.
Buildings and houses
that struggle for land
stand where only open fields looked grand
so long before the bricks ever arrived
with the builders with tools
that changed what for so long had survived.
Maps were re-written
and places became
next to the roads so that we may
go away from
or come back to where we belong
to place we call home
that graces the land
where once no roads ever ran.
