It was cold bitter

I was lost in the snow

everywhere I looked

which way do I go?

Forward I edged unsure affraid

then before me

footprints there lay.

My spirits soared

I called out 'Hello'

but the snow

muffles sounds

so I followed the footprints

in the snow.

Sometimes they seemed

as if they were hidden

dusted on top

by fresh snow falling.

I was tired ans anxious

I could not rest

it seemed as if I

had been following for hours,

Cold and shivering

I dropped a glove

could not stop

must not delay.

Another hour I followed these footprints

till I upon my glove

and then I realised

just what I had done.

Help I called

and nobody came

while slowly

I was buried beneth snow

where I laid.

When the morning came

I was in my bed

I had been dreaming

there was no snow

just sun instead.
