Sometimes things are taken for granted until we look again, or until some hidden truth reveals itself.

Poem Artwork

It was as if it had been that way

the way of how we had always seen

the way things always had been,

your Mother the one who was always there

never complaining her lot in life

always providing for your needs,

as if she was made for that role

to ever be there

whenever you call.

So years passed by

time travels fast

she fell asleep in death so many years past,

always remembered for the mother she was

the unselfish love she always showed

even when times were not good,

yet like a crack of thunder

you find a letter

still sealed ready to post,

the name it bears

you do not know

or what the letter is about,

yet when you open it you find

it is written by your Mum

to a step brother you never knew,

from the words you feel her tears

as she writes to her secret child

telling them how sorry she was for all the lies,

that she never meant to leave them

she was only in her teens

that she had spent all these years

trying to find them

that it was all like a sad dream.

Yet the letter was never ever sent

and your mother now was gone,

you feel a sadness come over you

do you tell them

or leave it alone.

Deep poetic thoughts. I would pray and be on my way.

An interesting dilemma that happens sometimes in life. I hope it is not something from your life, but only from your poetic creativity.
