dear mom

 

i hate the way u look at me,

i hate the way u joke,

i hate the fact you're never there,

i hate the way you never tried,

excuses after excuses,

i felt dead inside,

how can i love you after what you did,

when everything faded away,

i couldn't believe this shit,

everything on my shoulders,

i could barely stand,

now her i am,

were are you?

Words spoken as many I have heard before. Words I remember when I was young I might have spoken if I was even allowed to think such things. I was probably thirty years old already before I finally had someone who told me that I could allow myself to think and even say those things out loud. So many years you have gained in your life. You will in time love her as the mother/woman who brought you into this world yet it will be a different kind of love born of forgivenes and understanding of being a woman yourself. LadyJ
