A scream came echoing through the house
The sounds of running, rushing feet
Fingers creeping, crawling, browse
Seeking something sweet to eat.
Giggles come from sunlit rooms.
Falling objects crashing sounds.
Shards of pottery, needing brooms,
No sign of culprits, they aren’t around.
Loud music blares with sudden sound,
Raucous notes assault the ears.
Laughter screams from all around
We cringe in horror, show our fears.
Cakes go missing the cookies are gone.
From out of the chest my favourite tool
Why have all these things just gone?
My God! The kids are home from school.
