Dreams or reality? I'll never know.

At night I lay in bed and dream,
I sing and dance among the clouds
Speak to the dead, so it would seem.
Sit upon the sacred mounds.

Fly through the sky on Ravens wings,
Perch within the tree of life.
My soul it rises, laughs and sings,
Rises and swoops into a dive.

I crawl within the sacred cave,
Rest within the Mother’s womb.
Run with Wolf, no ones slave.
Howled with grief over ancestral tomb.

Heard the cries of tribes long gone
Danced with the spirits among the stars.
Heard the Spirit, sing creation’s song.
The call of the Bison, heard from afar.

I’ve flown across this ancient land.
Rested within the badger’s lair.
Dreamers reach out to touch my hand.
With all the People my love I share.

Over mountains, and Prairies wide.
From cloud to cloud I dance the sky.
Felt within a warrior’s pride.
Felt and heard warm breezes sigh.

I’ve had these dreams since when a child,
I ventured forth on fledgling wings.
Swooped and soared, my heart was filled,
With the ancient song and the joy it brings.

One day I’ll leave all this behind,
Forever to dance with the stars above.
My eyes will be opened, no longer blind.
Know once again the Great Spirit’s love.
