Sweet Memories.

Lights that twinkle in the night
Moon reflects from fallen snow.
Breathless waiting for the sight,
Of the man in red his face to show.

Then safely snuggled in my bed
Drifting quickly off to sleep
Dreams of Christmas filled my head
Elves and Fairies round me crept

Woke up early, sky still dark.
Creeping lightly down the stairs.
Whispered voices must not talk.
The wine and cake, gone from the chair.

The Yuletide tree all cloaked in light.
Presents scattered round the floor
Wide eyed wonder at the sight,
Of choc filled stockings on the door.

No more silence, shouts of joy.
As colored wrappings, fly through the air.
A Car! A Train! My special toys.
Nuts and sweets enough to share

Pork and Turkey, Chicken too.
Christmas pud’, with brandy sauce.
Coloured hats of red and blue.
Fruit mince pies and cake of course.

Christmas Crackers that go Bang!
Filled with mottos and little toys.
Choristers that came to our door and sang.
And filled our little hearts with joy.

Finally, at the end of the day.
Our bellies filled with pie and cream
Back to bed we did wend our way.
And soundly slept with happy dreams.
