Purple and Black!

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Ah, what a duel!
Is that purple,
Or is it black?
Paddy-whacked?

Maybe (M)man
Has to know
The essence of himself
Before he understands
His opposite. Maybe conquest
And rape is an attempt
To populate a world
With himself. I don’t know.

What I know is what comes
From my loins is combined,
Very rarely ever one.
Woman-wise, I mean.

You know, the whatever-
Comes-from-my-sperm-is-me
Mentality isn’t. It’s a parcel of two.
Two, extrapolated,
Becomes billions.

Which isn’t woe-way?
Purple or black? An image,
Of clouds on television,
Lightning had hit the top…

Producing similarities.

either way when left on the skin or imprinted in the skin we must learn to keep moving........strong emotions

I sense deep rage and bitterness in lines of pain, Erin - hope you're okay.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Thought provoking and although not sure of the overall theme I can catch bits and glimpses of pain, sorry and even a little bitterness of wrongs done and left unavenged...
