HUNGRY GHOST lyrics

I met a hungry ghost
climbing up the stairs
up beyond the ceiling
and vanished in thin air

but before I had the time
to even be afraid
he came back down and talked to me
and this is what he said:

"if you meet the Buddha
travelling on the road
kill him for affrontery
or else he will explode"

I fed the hungry ghost
with brains dropped in the mud
but when he wanted heart
I couldn't give my blood

he pulled his angry eyes
out of his fury head
and started telling lies
and this is what he said:

"Three things cannot be hidden:
the sun, the moon, and truth.
Three things cannot be bidden:
the future, past, and youth"

I left the hungry ghost
falling into night
and waited on the roof
until the morning light

and then the hungry ghost
left me without a doubt
and this is what he said
while speaking with my mouth:

"What we think we are
and what we are we think
make sure the cup is empty
before you take a drink"
