Creation
A fleeting thought.
A Heavenly light beam,
A vaporous notion
The mind receives.
Words not yet spoken,
A fleeting thought
Has broken
And crystallized a seed.
From God
To mind,
To heart,
To mouth.
A fleeting thought
Descends
As divine revelation
A virgin conception.
Gnarled only
By human transgressions,
Ambition, desires,
Interpretation.
A fleeting thought.
Open arms, a smile, a kiss,
Man, woman, marriage,
A birth.
A fleeting thought.
Sublime inspiration,
Molded by our transgressions,
Desires, interpretations.
A fleeting thought
Is arms that love,
Hands that kill,
A fleeting thought,
Transforms to love,
Hate, peace, war,
Kindness, greed,
Life, death,
Silence,
And then,
A fleeting thought....

This poem has been in my mind for over a week, and it just wouldn’t move, not an inch in any direction. I knew what I wanted to say, but the words just weren’t there. But tonight I read a piece by our wonderful and insightful poet, Eileen T. Waldron, titled “The Sword That Writes”. I left comments for Eileen; something to indicate I needed to hear those words. And indeed I did, because it so inspired me that about an hour later, I finished my poem. The words came to me as if they were being dictated. Thank you Eileen, for your work, and the inspiration you so freely share; thank you, from the bottom of my heart. -- Carmen
