Poem Artwork

*******

So Vulnerable

I am secretly
So vulnerable
This woman of loneliness
I am

Like a restless intense little girl
With my dark hair and brown eyes
Who still make a strong “showing”
In my silent fight with mid - life
With perennial grace
I drape myself

In soft-fitting white satin

It feels liquid to my skin
The only caress I allow myself
And if you could hold me now
I think
I would shatter…
Into real sharp gleaming slivers
Even before…

You could fold me in your arms
And for a fleeting moment

When you look at me

Deep within my eyes
I will avert my eyes
Incase you read… the pain
Deep within

The image made me think of Marulyn Monroe's face shortly after her death. She was vulnerable in the realms where the stakes are higher than most are capable of imagining. Perhaps something similar was intended to be expressed in this poem. Vulnerability is a weakness only in the eyes of the ignorant, a virtue in the eyes of the wise. It says a lot about the state this world is in today. I've been away for a long time and haven't read your work during that period. It has changed, gained depth and eloquence. This is probably your poetic niche. I enjoyed being here to read and ponder. Take care,

Tinka,

Waves of hurt, waves of pain break on the shores of lonely words...vividly and sadly expressed in this excellent poem. And that drawing--my God, what duality of talent you possess!

(((((HUGS))))) and much love, Karla.

I find you less than vulnerable, as you have the strength to write of your supposed vulnerabilities...making them known to those of us who realize you are stronger than you think...Ed

Great artwork, Tink. The poem is so lovely and shows that you write from experience without self-consciousness or holding back. Very Good, my dear.

This is so beautiful and so open, Tinka, that it made me cry. Your artwork is getting so good, you are indeed a work in progress, yourself. I pray that you will find the strength to take the steps necessary to change your life situation. You are beautiful and you are warm; I hate to think of you remaining in the icy realm that you now inhabit for the rest of your days, but as I have said so many times before, "the dreamer must be the one to change the dream."
Take care,
Sherry
