I woke one night
Moon beams filtering through blinds
Distorting the interior of my room
From a dark corner
I heard the voice, Of the shadowman
Who asked me how old I was?
Without fear I answered
Because at nights
I do say my prayers
I am sixty three, I replied
How old would you
like to live, to be?
~~*~~
Thinking about my cousin
Who just past away
At seventy one
I said, I would like
To live to be a hundred
If you return
A hundred years, from now
I would ask you
For another hundred
I'll see you then
A soft voice replied.
~~*~~
Well that moment has arrived
I'll be one hundred come midnight
All my children
Have lived honorable lifes
Into their seventies and eighties
My grandchildren,
Now parents of their own
too busy to visit me
Or to come to a nursing home
I have great- grandchildren
Who don't know I exist.
~~*~~
I am watching a magnificent sunset
I wait with anticipation
For the full moon beams
To filter through my blinds
For tonight
On bending knees, I'll beg
The Shadowman
Not to allow me, to witness
Another sunrise.
This is beautifully Expressed to my it was a very
Sad ending for the thought of nursing homes
Give me the jitters and it's very sad and painful to
Prayed not to see another sunrise!
Stunning Emotions throughout the page as I read this page my eyes
began to tear for we are all going to have to face
This painful reality of life!
Beautiful heartfelt write!!
Wishing You WILLIAM And NORMA

This is so well expressed the ending is sad but I do work in a Nursing Home so many pray not to see that new sunrise. Thank you for sharing this poem it is touching William.
Merry Christmas,
Joselyn
The Shadowman looms all too real for some of us. I'd prefer to face him in the light of day, rather than have him slink around in dark corners; but, maybe, that is his lot...forever in darkness.
Methinks the vim and vitality of your young grandchildren may be making you feel a wee bit older :o) Never fret, just enjoy every happy step forward you make.
Once more...A Very Merry Christmas to you and Yours...
Enjoyed the transcedental transmogrify serving subversive and impassive undertones of the shadowman. Henceforth, the knee jerk interjections of the character was rather witty of you William.

This has the floavor of a parable and reminds me of the tale tof the Wandering Jew who lives forever, sick, old and in pain and always searching for death. Death has no sting if we believe. God has great plans for us. Have a Blessed Christmas, you and yours. Victor
