Was just a few weeks ago
That I traveled
To a distant village
With several companions
As we were accustom.

Upon entering the village
A strange man, I spied
Looked troubled
Dressed in tattered rags
Un bathe.

As he stared at me
He began to rant and rave
Incoherently
His eyes were those
Of a wild beast.

I was warned, by native villagers
The man was possessed
By demons
He saw me nearing him.

He yelled obscenities
At me
That normal men
Wouldn’t dare whisper
In the rage of night.

I approached him
With reaching arms
To embrace him
As he savagely swung his arms
Kicking wildly.

My finger tips
Touched the rags he wore
He became limp
Gentle as a lamb
Fainting
I embraced him
Before he touched the ground
Comforting him, Within my breast.

I felt tremendous tremors
As a demon exit, from within him
As I prayed to the Lord above
To release this poor soul
From his demonic captor.

I then proceeded
To accomplish my task at hand
Baptizing
New members of my flock
Preparing the way
For him
Who I am not worthy
Of untying his sandals
To wash his feet.
