Eyes Of An Egyptian

~*~

He was a boy king

Destine to be ordained

A living god

At hand were images

Of his likeness,

He possessed the eyes

Of an Egyptian

As those on hieroglyphics walls

desecrated by thieves

In the darkness

Of unholy nights

Within the pyramid tombs

Of Pharaohs.

Slaves were being gathered

As they suffered

Under the lash of their

Task masters

Preparing the way

For a city

To be named after

This boy king

They best kneel before him

They best I prostrate before him

As he passes their presence.

He was a boy king

At ten

He who all before him

Gravel humbly on the ground,

Even the lions within

Their dens

Trembled with fear

As he approached

He that Young Boy

With

The eyes of an Egyptian.

These thought gathered within

My mind

As I held my grandson’s picture

Awing

At my imagination

As I stare

At the image within

Of the boy

With “The eyes of an Egyptian”

~*~

What a beautiful child! Talk about e y e s !!

It was brilliant of you to make the boy king connection. The mysterious vibe of ancient Egypt pulsates a n d you manage
to strike a blow against social injustice. All without wasting a word. Impressive!!

Encore, please!

A tribute describing, from King's Tut to a grandson, the eyes that see the world like standing behind a different window than ours.
You done great!
