HARDLY A 'SHADOW', WILLIAM...TSK!...TSK! ONLY A STRONG MAN, FULL OF THOSE WONDERFUL VALUES OF 'FAMILY' TAKES THE TIME TO PLAY WITH HIS GRANDCHILDREN. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT LIGHT...THE MEMORIES THAT YOU ARE FORMING WITH THEM WILL LONG BE APPRECIATED AND TENDERLY RECALLED. FOR THEY WILL NOT RECALL A 'SHADOW', BUT THEY WILL THINK ON A PERSON WHO CARED AND LET THEM KNOW, BY HIS ACTIONS, HOW MUCH HE LOVED THEM. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

I love not only the poem but also its contemplative content. Surely your granddaughters will not only remember "the shadow of a man" but also the Light of the man took time to play scrabble with them.
William, Yes, Yes, Yes, it is each moment that we share with our loved ones that count and leave lasting impressions deeply within them. We have to live in the moment, no matter what that moment is.
You are doing what you are suppose to be doing, no regrets, just play and have fun with those granddaughters...
Lovely poetry, you always know how to get to the heart of your readers.
Much peace, love and light, and happy new year!

You are bound to be one of their best shinning memories they will cherish when they are grown, so just enjoy them to pieces William...
peace and love, Carole~
A deep, thoughtful piece, William. Seems this is the time of year for it, but you capture this authentic moment in a way that showcases that sense of in-the-end-we-are-all-alone. Great work.

You give your time and your presence to them, William, and you encourage words and literacy in them and that's a real legacy in this dumb age. I love the moment of this poem and its thrust.
This is so heartfelt and a little sad, William. On the other hand, not everyone of us are blessed with being able to play and enjoy with our grandchildren. Surely, you are a person with significance not because of what you have now but it is about what you've built in the impressionable minds of the little ones. A doting grandpa, loving and protective. That's how your granddaughters will remember you. Love and blessings to you.
This is so touching and wistful...I think they will remember, and it will sustain them, as memories of my Grandparents playing games with me have sustained me so many times...
Love and Hugs, Diana...
Beaufifully heartfelt Bill. Maybe they will remember. Children's memories are very selective. My grandmother died when I was four and all I can remember is her trying to feed me cooked carrots which I hate. That and her beautiful loving smile. If nothing else they'll remember the love you have for them.
I find this so hearfelt and meaningful, William. Having two daughters myself (no grand kids yet), I can completely empathize. I do not know if you have read my poem "Ballet Lesson" that I have posted here at AD. It seems to me we are expressing the very same sentiments in many ways. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace to you,
You are a blessed man, William. Give the Lord much thanks and praise; as, He favors you with grandchildren. They are so sweet to play with and even to listen them giggle and play.... It's Really a nice poem!
Spending time with your grandchildren will ensure they do remember you, William! Sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with them...they'll remember that!
Just know that times with their grandfather, playing games and laughing will be remembered long after we are gone.
