I'm Blonde and That's Partly To Blame

Some people can just vegetate and get away with the same thing. Me, I need a bandaid if I take a stroll and stub my toe on a maple leaf. It's the way stuff happens to blondes.
We aren't taken seriously until we leave the room.

Poem Artwork

Will somebody just lead me around
Because I'm not feeling wise today
Our pets have more fun just being alive
As long as they try to behave
I'm having the worst time of my life
Just trying to keep my focus
It's a "blonde thing" I'm sure and chances are ripe
That my wisdom isn't all bogus
My emotions are taut and I think I'm in love
While my tears have all gone and rusted
It's a hiatus I need for now is the time
To quit before I get busted
Is feeling this way without you around
Something a wise sage would do
Am I stupid to think this is the real deal
And will my path soon lead me to you
I think it is time to just rest a spell
Allow my past pains... release
A good cry might do me a whole world of good
If only for my inner peace
I want to be like Lucie the dog...
She never has to fret
Except when noone answers her needs
She gets sick or goes to the Vet
Or to just sleep and be worry free
But I stand to lose out in love
If my wisdom is drunk and then takes a fall
And I end up in hell or above
Am I ready to travel, to make this here trip
To power my spirit with his
Or write a screenplay, be Hollywood bound
End up lonely out there in Show Biz
I guess I'll just lie down here on the floor
Then hear him whisper my name
If I talk to myself then forgive me, Okay!
I'm blonde and that's partly to blame.

Good one, Susan! If being in love (and taking it seriously) is a blonde thing, then I wish that everyone would be blonde, very very blonde! What a wonderful world this would be.

Sounds like blonde ambition. Is that an oxymoron?

Wow this is just splendid. When we write exactly the way we want and how we exactly feel then we all can relate or feel it. it is always an indeed pleasure to read your poetry especially ones with so much meaning and easy to understand. Keep writing and never stop. Love Aleja Bennett.

Wish I could blame my tantrums on the blond thingy...but the only time I ever comes close to that silver lining is when my grey hairline starts to show.....lol!!

Aw, C'mon! Blonde is not an affliction. It's only the results of eons of mating and all that stuff. On you, it looks great, so keep on living it up... proudly. Some of my best friends are blonde, and more than a few are intelligent beyond belief. No kidding... Kiddo! Your posting is very good poetry, and is even better as a lesson on the psychology of the inner self. - Bill

Dear Susan, the one think I have never doubted about you is your intelligence and your passion as an artist and writer. You could and have done so much with your life that you to me are a hero and one I am proud to call friend and kindred spirit. So we may stumble but we will always rise again...it is our nature.

If my wisdom is drunk and then takes a fall

An incredibly proverbial clause.
I like this stripped away, narrowed down to the point drunkenness. Clever, it breaks the 'he is drunk'generalisation. Folk often turn to drink because a particular emotion is wreaking havoc with their rationale. Taking the lead from your insight above, if it is jealousy, then it is jealousy that gets drunk; anger, then anger gets drunk - you get the picture. Very astute, Susan, very perceptive AND very blonde too!

Regards
Dai
