Fractured Fables #4 - Mary's on the Lam

This is the 4th in a series of Fractured Fables I have recently written about old nursery rhymes.

FRACTURED FABLES # 4 -MARY'S ON THE LAM

Mary was on the lam,
she was running from the law,
but everywhere that Mary went
the cameras always saw.

Big Brother’s always watching,
you can’t outrun the police.
They always think you’re guilty,
meanwhile you’re being fleeced.

Mary understood,
she’d dealt with cops before,
once you’re in their pockets
all they ever want is more.

Mary had a plan,
she’d give them what they needed,
but she’d get it all on film
then post it next time she tweeted.

The cops lacked a sense of humor,
they didn’t find it funny,
now she’s between a rock and a hard place,
as they continue taking her money.

So Mary’s on the lam
fleeing north into the snow,
but everywhere that Mary goes
the cops are sure to know.

You have "fractured" me again... in laughter! Most clever, as usual. Keep em coming! You brighten my day!

Unfortunate, but more truth than poetry here, even though it's a damned good poem.

A nursery rhyme for our time.

When I was a kid, my parents' friends had a parakeet that would sing nursery rhymes: “Mary had a little lamb, it's fleece as white as Christ mas mas mas.”

I'm in sort of a bad mood this afternoon and the crooked cops and the moll on the run didn't do much for it, but it was written well. No moral here. But then these fractured fables don't really have to have any, do they?
