who would paint X's
on a bright blue sky
and say don't worry
that plane is flying so high

the birds don't stop and look
they just fly and sing
while the angels cry
for a shameful thin

when the skies go dark
the birds don't sing anymore
what about the trees
on the forest floor

now it's too late
for the world to see
it's not enough air
for the people to breathe

what else goes on
with our most important needs
are we afraid to ask
is it too hard to believe

did they put a man on the moon
or a hollywood scene
one thing for sure
the X's i can see
