A LIGHT MSN CHAT BETWEEN TWO PRESIDENTS The former Somali president, Dr. Abdulqasim Salaad Hassan tries to have an ice-breaking chat with the current President, Col. Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed through the internet. Col Yusuf has established a temporary base in Jowhar until his government is relocated to Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia.
Abdi Qasim says When I was elected President in Djibouti I immediately returned home to meet people Everybody was pleased with my victory I made a remarkable public address I vowed to contain insecurity, inflation I injected hope in despair-ridden souls I set up a balanced functional government I put police in the streets of Mogadishu I established a mechanism to collect tax I opened roads in congested market alleys I visited many regions. I visited nations I attended many flag-showing conferences It is now almost a year since you were elected What have you done so far? You are only touring the world You are just a flying president Are you not, Mr. president? Abdullahi says When I won elections in Nairobi I became the Somali President I picked the most suitable PM I started to search for Somali unity I disregarded tribalism in nominations Though without tribalism I can not run a state I preached peace and love Though war was not ruled out War is sometimes a necessary evil Somalia has become a chaotic land It has grown to the size of a mountain crime On top of it culprits are dancing Too old and frail I am I can’t climb mountains at this age I put disarmament a highest priority issue I requested AU nations to send troops I relied on friends who never moved My plans hit a harsh political obstacle So I reverted to traveling across the world Is that not enough until I am relocated? By the way, my dear friend Abdulqasim A flying President is better than a Fadhiid president Fadhiid means stagnant, never moving from "ilmo fadhiid ah" meaning a baby who just wants to sit, never wishig to try a single move to catch an item though babies of his age have already started crawling.

Brother Abdi, I have come to believe on most days that mankind is soon to become extinct much like the dinosaurs and there are days when I welcome the next evolution, surely the species must become more peacefully adaptable. But this is just a fantasy while worldwide greed destroys all within its' wake. Oh mean mean men the savior must rise in each of us before it is too late. I really don't care what the savior is called so long as people truly believe that humankind is worth the effort of saving. Peace, blessings, and love...Mikii

Abdi Noor, it is so sad that politicians and leaders the world over seem to be unfit for the jobs they are called to do. It makes me think time is running out on this old world,and we are in need of a new one. Be well...

This is an interesting banter, Abdi-Noor. Unfortunately, both stratgedies have led your country to where it is today. I think a more flexible plan needs to be made; one that can modify daily until the right balance is found, one that restores order amid the chaos and the government to the people. Perhaps this will occur through baby-steps or perhaps through mighty leaps, but it must occur.

Well, I don't know much about the politics in Somalia, but I guess everything takes time to materialize. One year is too short a time to expect any changes. Presidents are also human, time is an essence for everyone, it proceed at the same space and speed, one cannot do magic and make everything happen in just one short year just becuase he is the President.

The above is just my 2 cents of opinion...but then again, like I said, I don't know much of the politics in Somalia.
