In many parts of the world women are abused in the name of culture
In this African village a chief is the ruler
His culture gave him excessive powers
And at any measure he can stretch them
He shines among his men line a moon
He has as many wives as he could get
His palace is stuffed with young virgins
He receives them daily like fresh flowers
This village is no good place for women
As they are treated like objects of pleasure
Sad: and many believe that is the way it should be: women have no rights, are treated like (worse than) cattle. Property...keep speaking out, Abdi-Noor. We need more men like you to change things.
When I wrote ths book in 2000, I was concerned about children having access to the Internet and to chat rooms where "you can be anyone you want." Here we are many years later and the situation with children talking freely to stangers on the Internet
