When the sun comes out there is no way stars can show any meaningful presence in the sky. Fame is like that. I am wondering when the famous people we knew will come back to fame as fame itself seems to have surrendered to Obama who has become the spotlight of International focus from the highest bureaucratic echelons in the west to the most humble farmers in the third world.
When the night sky falls
Some stars give up not
They keep hanging on
Denyíng to move over
Craving for attention
From those who loved them
Those who watched them
Trying to pose challenge
As they wink alternately
Showing resistance
In the face of defeat
Getting weaker and weaker
As daylight gets thicker
Gasping for a breath
As they are swallowed
In the depths of shining pits
Searching for a rapid escape
But ending up hiding
In the shadow of the sun
Acceping their fate at last
Learning a good lesson of life:
No Condition is permanent
politicians are all like siroccos, and el nino -- winds robbing moisture and energy from one area and redipositing it another -- they demand attention for a relatively brief time in the scheme of things -- and then, just as surely as they arrived, they are gone, and forgotten -- if remembered at all, only for their mistakes and weaknesses -- it is so with all men with limited scopes -- and it will be so with Obama -- for he is, just another politician -- men of greatness survive politics and politicians -- Hitler, Churchill, Roosevelt, Stalin, Kennedy -- politicians all, mighty men for a second of history's long run -- now all are consigned to the halls of forgotten stories -- Lincoln, Ghandi, the Delhi Lama are men of greatness that were and are men of peace and statesmen with a global concern for the well being of all mankind -- not the well being of a political party or political system -- these are the men that will endure the history of mankind -- men like you Abdi-Noor, who have a mission of peace, love and understanding for all men -- peace and much love to you my friend -- JMW
Amen! Peace be with you brother! No condition is, indeed, permanent.

Kingdoms and empires and utopias come and go, always replaced by some different way of being. And always there are those slow ones who want to shine their own old light when the world has moved on to a brighter place. Their dissenting screams grow dimmer with each new obituary day. So mote it be.
This is a wonderfully thoughtful piece. Well done :-)
When people do what they do for fame only, victims of their narcissistic urge, it's impossible for them to comprehend this reality, that nothing is permanent. Unfortunately, there are many of them. We have to look for those stars that shine of a different light.
