It is hard to imagine how woman live in a war-torn nation like Somalia. Women and War is a film I am now working and hopefull shall be out by next year, Insha Allah.
At young age she lost her father
A bullet struck him in the head
She became an orphan
She wept in the heat of loss
Under the custody of clan relatives
She was exploited as a house maid
Never enjoying life in her childhood
But always dreaming to be born again
Unable to bear with the hardships
She hatched a plan of defection
She fled to let freedom touch her
But time has not been with her, sadly
Winds of dejection whirled around
Spinning in the depths of her soul
Leaving a mark of pain on her heart
As they were inexplicably agonizing
With dwindling hopes to survive
She picked a fight with life itself
Denying vanishing for no reason
Defying the mechanics of war
In the thickening haze of darkness
She saw herself in the middle of it
But within the edges of this enclave
She saw a bubble of hope, swelling
Love came to her rescue
Her life is now totally changed.

Abdi-noor Oohintii waad ka dhamaysey dadkii walaal bes dheh.....
and she was one of the more fortunate ones, at that, Abdi-Noor -- as far too many never even get to witness the "bubble of hope" or have love rescue them -- these tragedies are pervasive, in many societies where war and strife visit daily -- leaving women orphans of society -- peace and love-- Jon Michael

And in the midst of war, hope shines forth ... in the guise of a woman, in a child, in a Poet with dreams of peace: may it be so, in Jesus' Name. Well penned, Abdi-Noor.
We can only imagine the hardships that this woman has endured, while we enjoy freedom within this country. It is unfortunate that the world still live within many idealogies of the past. Hopefully the one emotion that still live within this womans heart will give her that chance she needs to live and love...
