It’s not your letters that I miss.
Not nearly as much as...
I miss not knowing I am important anymore.
Oh sure,
I can intellectualize myself
into a Cheetos induced coma... anytime.
But really! Without a periodic reminder—
like a love letter, or just a note
about your favorite song
or the way the clouds play tricks on you,
by creating shadows you never noticed before
as you stepped out of a meditative shower
into a haloed room
with a slit for a window,
that allows a refracted light
to be absorbed into your night blooming love,
where wonder is the taste of my skin—
I find myself missing all those transported electrons
that brought you, to me.
You always touched me within my
plasticity. My mind groped yours.
Sara, what a wonderful talent you have of putting words together:
"I miss not knowing I am important anymore...
[and] as you stepped out of a meditative shower...."
There's a kind of beauty in the way you express the pain of it all.
