Newborn and Ninety-Nine

The old and young have things in common.

Going to throw away my cane,
give away my specs and hearing-aids
to sleep--day in, day out--in a bed of down.
Going to be recycled so don't you frown.
It will be nice wearing a brand new gown.
No teeth, diapers, wrinkled brow
newborn and ninety-nine.
Drooling, pooling, on blankets
newborn and ninety-nine.
Hairless, careless, not a worry at all
newborn and ninety-nine.
Trading my wrinkles for a smoother face,
another start, in a nice, holy place.
Looking forward to it, ready to go
I've got my bags packed . . . just want you to know.
Barefeet, stinky, nice to have around
newborn and ninety-nine.
Soft music, dim lights, something to pacify
newborn and ninety-nine.
Milk, vitamins and a lullabye will do.

I'm starting life over. How about you?

You are right. The old people got a saying, "once a man, twice a child." Yeah, I'd say they got a lot in common. Nice way to put it all together.
