Standing, peering in the mirror,
seeing my illusion . . . confused.
Is she etched in the thin silver
to peek out at me time to time?
I pull a chair there . . .
lock eyes across air,
does my image see?
Perhaps she knows me?
We both flip our hair with one hand.
Is there a like world behind her?
Is she married, with children, too?
Does the clock chime there from time to time?
Can my image speak?
I’ve not heard a squeak.
I see her crying--
while I’m denying—
the feelings that swamp, enchant me.
Would that, we two, could swap places.
Would anyone know our faces?
I could return from time to time.
Living has turned strange,
love is out of range,
we each looked past eyes . . .
that fell undisguised
from time to time.
1st review: "Time to Time" is a powerful piece of self insight. It
brings up thoughts; are we really here? Expertly written, Sandy.
