primal rites at risk
clutch of wild energy squeezed
angry fist explodes, flaming debris
blown beyond the reach of mother sun
bending along the bubble’s arc
smoldering, diminished shadow ash
molecules dispersed, unfulfilled
at rest, lost in an echo

the light you bring to those two controversial topics is informative and wonderfully light hearted Gene -- a magenta cloud and the ashes of simian dna conjoined in the human saga -- excellent read -- very creative and humorous -- much peace and love t you my dear friend --Jon Michael

Gene - Is the mushroom cloud to be the symbol of mankind, the ultimate end of the "monkey genes" that brought us here? Loved the ending, both humorous, ironic and tragic.

It's like a little bomb, Gene, but also like a bullet in monkey's brain and a falling from the tree of Life.

Like serveral persons I know, the poor guy was short on a few things that might have made him 'human.' Research will NOT show that he was entitled to all of that monkeying around.... anyhow, anyway! Yur high quality writing about a lowball hits a new high! - Bill

Terrible and terrific, Gene. No, I'm afraid Monkey has no sense at all..."We're pinheads now, we are not whole! We're pinheads now, Jocko Homo..." (Devo) ;)

...unique and frightening visuals, Gene. It reminds me of when my folks panic had them putting a bomb shelter in the backyard

Gene, you outdid yourself. It must have taken some time to get that mushroom cloud just right. I've read that mankind has enough atomic weapons to destroy the earth more than one hundred times. The only survivor/s might be cockroaches in some deep cave. I read that radiation doesn't kill cockroaches; they don't need air and even after the cockroache's head is cut off, the body keeps laying egg for two weeks. Imagine some leader like that guy in South America (that will rule for life now) having his thumb on the button. Soon, Iran will join the mushroom club alongside North Korea. Two more monkeys that can't control their anger and hate.

Gene,
Both the Big Bang and Hiroshima visited by a poet of great sensitivity and insight. What chance indeed does any monkey have in a world so strangely formed and open to the real possibility of extermination? This is fine and deep excavation.

Makes me feel sorry for the monkey! Man, supposedly descended from simian (although my beliefs, different) overpowers and destroys everything he touches. And THAT'S the Gospel truth. Sad one today, Gene, powerfully pennd.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
