He was lost in the weeds of Neverland Just drowning in that green Tried to remember where he was As he munched on magic beans
Reached for a vine that was hanging down Thought he'd swing around and sway Lost his stand on moving ground As a turtle walked away
Fell backwards into quicksand Down and down he sunk Add to his woes in Neverland He was mooned by a passing skunk
Rescued by a yank and shake From the quicksand by a yellow snake Who pulled him close for a forked tongue kiss But he scared him off with a swampy hiss
Lost his clothes in Neverland Wove a sheath of leaves Some fell off, as he slowly tanned He was spotted...like a weave
Learned to speak to lions Sang along with orangatangues Flew with birds of paradise As he forgot his name
Ahhhhhh
Drifting
Felt sort of free in Neverland Didn't work or drive a car Lost in the weeds of Neverland You part with who you are
This is so cute and hilarious. Who would ever imagine a story about being mooned by a passin skunk, etc., can be so engaging and enjoyable. Loved it. My best, Gloria
Superb whimsy Anita, once again you treat us to your unique humor and delivery of the moral tale. And you do it with such style. The title just rocks! LOl.
Goodness Pax . . .
Where in the world do these little gems come from?
I'm thinking you recieved some creative wisdom when you had dinner and wine with the grays on Thursday?
The last line Anita: "You part with who you are" to me changed the entire gist of the poem.
I became aware suddenly of life as a series of loses and how we often, to keep some semblance of sanity, have to laugh and shrug at the passing of time and what it does to our minds and bodies.
Unbelievably clever...meant to be read and read again. I agree, asde from the immediately pleasurable reaction to this write, I do find some interesting commentary on man. You go girl!

I agree with Jerry do a book! This is magical whinsical poetry with an underlying message to ponder! Your unique mind and humor are a treasure, Anita!
Ps Been meaning to tell you I'm so glad your son is home!Great news and please thank him for me for serving his country so well, under such confused and divided circumstances! There are many who appreciated it!
"...and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" seems to have the same meaning as I interpret this from the last line. Drifting has it's uses but taken to extreme leaves one at the mercy of everything and everyone around him. Still, as nothing is wasted in my opinion, he did come away with knowledge and certain skills tho he forgot his name. To me, this is a serious write about human nature wrapped in whimsy. A puzzle if you will. And maybe I'm not making any sense at all, lol. You are an original, Anita...
