GOLD MATES
 
There's a string of gold
To braid old souls
That fate manipulates
It's drawn and rolled
Then hammered cold
To link us as we wait
 
It may dull with age
Or stay the same
Depending on care spent
Or may alter link, by the length
When borrowed, lost or lent
 
But the form stays true
Until the day
It's melted 'neath the flame
And it's cast into a different form
But in truth, it's still the same
 
While prized as constant
Glowing true to shine
It links the far and near
And values when entwined
