Poem Artwork

When my daughter sits down to do homework, I am always beside her, just to keep her on task, even if she does not need my help. While I sit beside her quietly I read or write, and this day I looked around the room and wrote little poems for my kitchen elements.

Junk,Fridge,Farts,Dishwasher,Telephone,Faucet

Junk Drawer

Pencils, matches, scissors, glue
Rulers, dice and money too
Junk I MAY need, packed so tight
Close the drawer....its out of sight!

The Fridge

Frozen entrees no one eats
Shelved below outdated sweets
Crispers basket moldy fruits
To the bin, and more en route!

Farts

No one considers the LIFE OF A FART
Or where their responsibility starts
A prisoner fart will suffer so sadly
But once he escapes, he'll announce himself gladly!

Telephone

Intrusive device named telephone
When silent makes me feel so alone
Why do you ring me when I'm in the loo?
Making me stop what I gotta do?

Dishwasher

Thunder beyond the door
Always ready for more
Flatware, pots and pans
Saves me dishwater hands!

Faucet

Like a rain cloud at the ready
Water pressure always steady
Hot or cold or in between
Dashing salmonella schemes!

Love this poem and your graphic! And believe it or not, I have often considered the life of a fart.

This was interesting. My old high school English teacher once told me about "list" poems that deal with everyday items. This is a good example of one. A fun write. Glad the dog didn't eat it. (Now, if that dog ate your daughter's social studies homework, we've got problems).

very, very clever ... the title really had a strong pull ... just reading "junk" and "fridge" paired with "farts" had me wondering, what comes next? clever pieces, each and every one.
