When packing is through and the move is complete,
When the fear of aloneness subsides,
When memories made through the years, start to fade,
When the will to go on is revived.
When snapshots of lovers, taken out of their frames,
Are placed in a shoebox, to store,
In the back of a closet, underneath clothes too large,
Those same clothes that fit once before.
When dinner is more, than an unwelcome chore,
When hunger strikes three times a day,
When sleeping alone isn’t bad after all,
When the bed isn’t made everyday.
When old friends resurface, to offer support,
Reminiscing away, them there blues,
When bitterness dwindles, when smiling is real,
A new future has come into view…
Wonderful poem Bonnie! I've often thought that the reason for all the woes in the world is because most everyone is walking around with a broken-heart and until it is healed, there can be no true love or peace in the world. In fact, I am working on an article based upon this premise.
