~ Small Petty Things ~
Mulling it over, like steaming red wine.
Spiced full of flavor, with lemons and limes.
Oranges slices, cloves, a cinnamon stick,
Simmered and stirred, in a life full of tricks.
Small petty possessions, take over our lives,
Small petty quarrels, small petty lies.
Relentless aggression in eager display,
Accumulate more, than was yours yesterday.
Time becomes narrow, wearing down to a limit,
Analyzing the energy, invested in it.
Grasping the concept, before life takes wing,
Your precious years full, of small petty things.
Perceptions reversed, turned round about,
Evolution dissolved, in a world based on clout.
Disregarding the spirit, still there inside,
Waiting in silence, to be re-recognized.
