Drinking the Spring Water

Poem Artwork

Haven't you ever had an experience

Of drinking the spring water

Bubbling over in the deep mountains?

It can be likened to a state when

There is neither night nor daytime,

But everything is crystal clear for you

From inside. Basically, we rarely think

About whether the sun is out or not,

But it is rare to be clear about such thoughts.

This clarity means the term of brightness

Where such things all exist, but

There is no distinction between them

And our mind's function:

So much subjectively, they no longer exist

Beyond our situational awareness.

While drinking the spring water,

There is still the mind. Normally,

Drinking the well or tap water,

There's no-mind while the spring water,

Due to the spiral growing

Of our environmental consciousness,

Can compel us to reach the goal

Of the so-called "No-minded Mind."

I had spring water in New Mexico, where I went skiing...ice cold, refreshing, especially after coming back to eat lunch!

Always,

Water is basically H2O. Depending on its source, there are all kinds of other elements in it, some good and some bad. The only way the mind is affected by drinking water is that the body, and the brain, need it for survival and clear thinking. The rest is just advertising of manufactured health claims on manufactured bottles.

As for the mind/no mind paradox, I can't comment because I'm waiting for rain to get some "real" water. ;-)

We have an artesian well nearby. We take several empty glass gallon jugs and fill them up after we have drank our fill of the exhilarating nectar of the gods. I think I'll go have a glass of it right now!

Love ya!

Yes, how right you are. Mountain spring water is simply glorious, bringing clarity and light to the mind and body. I tasted mountain water in the mountains of Ladakh several years ago. I could feel its electricity running through my body. What a rush.
