Do not believe in anything only because
It's just accepted by the masses of folks
Because it's written in the holy scriptures
Because it's spoken by gurus and teachers
Because it's handed down throughout ages
And passed from generation to generation.
Believe your good self if you know it well
And can entrust it with your ears and eyes.
We have to believe in ourselves to live a contented life. As far as religion goes, it's a delusion, and there's nothing more dangerous than a mass delusion.
So well said in the concise form of a poem. We are social creatures. We develop hierarchies of leadership and followership. Most people are followers. Many people are blind followers that do not question their leaders at all. You admonishes us all not to follow the many sanctioned leaders out there, but rely on your gut feeling about what is right.
Not being beholden to others for guidance is an incredibly freeing experience.
I always believe in my good self because whatever I do I don't do anything with a bad heart or bad intention to others. God gives me the power to be confident about myself. My God comes to me in many forms. HE can be God, HE can be the Lord Jesus, SHE can be the Chinese Goddess Kwan Yin. I wear a cross and a Jade Goddess Kwan Yin on a chain around my neck. They don't have any conflicts. They accept each oither's cultural differences, but they know their goals are the same - to spread kindness into this world. I'm happy to have them both to protect me.
